Says:
Alcanada is a very fair,
hilly course with great views, in a great position
on the bay of Alcudia. The name comes from the lighthouse
island of Alcanada that can be seen from most holes.
A great all round course. The only negative is, in
the winter months, the grass can get a little worse
for wear because of Alcanada´s northerly position.
A
Golfers View:
Situated north of Port d’ Alcudia (top of the
island) and named after the small island just off
the shoreline, Alcanada was opened in 2003. Designed
by Robert Trent Jones and his son, this course is
perfect for serious players staying in or around Alcudia
or Pollenca. A great variation of holes, with the
shortest par 3 of 160 yards and the longest par 5
at over 615 yards. As one would expect from Messrs
Trent Jones, the course layout is exceptional with
a perfect mixture of left and right dog legs, well
bunkered fairways and well guarded greens. One could
be forgiven for thinking that Alcanada is a hundred
years old, given the mature pine and olive trees and
the smooth rolling fairways. Pack a camera here as
the views of the little island with its lighthouse
and the backdrop of the Sierra de Levant are stunning.
Author’s favourite:
Alcanada is quite similar to Capdepera Golf in that
you be able to recount many of the holes for conversations
with the folks back home. Look forward to the par
5 seventh and the par 4 sixteenth both of which would
be a good test even for scratch golfers. |
