Jose Maria Olazabal had
a say in the design & construction of Pula which
may account for it being the preferred venue for The
Balearic Open (played in October). The very high standard
of green-keeping guarantees near perfect playing conditions.
For those who enjoy pretty golf courses, this may
not be for you. But should you want a stern test of
your ability, there is no course equal on the island.
Should you be allowed to play off the back tee boxes,
some long carries from tees to fairways can be a problem.
Twenty four is the handicap limit (32 for ladies)
and they normally require sight of your certificates.
This is possibly the one course in Mallorca that most
would travel the length or breadth of the island to
play.
Author’s favourite:
The par 4 sixteenth at 372 mts doesn’t suggest
a major problem, but in the wind, this hole will play
differently every day, making club selection part
scientific part pure good luck. In fact, you will
require a measure of good luck from start to finish.
Good luck. |
